Concacaf is 2nd oldest competition in the history of Football for America. This is main tournament for men’s national soccer teams run by CONCACAF. Today we will share the List of Concacaf Gold Cup Winners who won the competition in past. Gold Cup started in 1991 and from then it is runnuing smoothly. Last time it was played in 2015.

Gold Cup is organised in every 2 years from 1991. Before 2017, if the Gold cup not come in same year as FIFA Confederation cup comes, then winner or highest placed team, both FIFA Confederation and CONACAF, will be qualified for next stage of tournament.

This is a regional competition played with North America, Central America, & Caribbean National teams. Till now there are 12 teams in tournament with 5 from North, 4 from Central and 4 from Caribbean nation.

Mexico has won the titles (9) most of the times and USA the current champions of Gold Cup had won the title 5 times.

CONCACAF Gold Cup History:

In 1990, Concacaf created the new tournament to crown regional champions. The event was named CONCACAF Gold Cup with the United States organised the first competition in 1991.

The host country was the inaugural champion of the eight-team tournament. Mexico dominated the remainder of the decade, winning three consecutive titles in the CONCACAF Gold Cup in 1993, 1996 and 1998.

In the 1996 edition, the field included 1st guest Team for Gold Cup, inviting the world champions of the Champions, Brazil.

Guests are invited to participate in five tournaments of the 1996 CONCACAF Gold Cup in 2003. From 2005 the tournament, the Gold Cup again been challenged by the nations of CONCACAF.

In 2000 Gold Cup, the tournament field was increased to twelve teams. Canada won the next tournament, his first international title in nearly 100 years.

The 2007 Gold Cup was contested in the United States from June 6 to June 24, 2007, where the hosts successfully defended their title by defeating Mexico 2-1 in the final in Chicago; Canada and Guadalupe shared third place.

Gold Cup 2009 was held on 3 July to 26 July 2009, with Mexico claiming the title after beating the United States by a 5-0 score.

In the 2011 CONCACAF Gold Cup, Mexico beat the United States 4-2 in the final at the Rose Bowl. The United States had struggled throughout the tournament but reached the final thanks to a dramatic 1-0 win against Panama.

Since the formation of the Gold Cup in 1991, the CONCACAF championship was won six times by Mexico, five times the United States, and once in Canada. Runners are Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Honduras and Panama.
